The movie is the remake of the Spencer Tracy Classic of the 1950’s and is one of the best among the wedding movies with a hilarious touch. The movie features ( Steve Martin )George Banks as the father of the bride (Kimberly Williams)Annie Banks  ,the mother of the bride (Diane Keaton) Nina Banks, the groom (George Newbern) and the most humorous part played by the wedding planner (Franck Eggelhofffer) Martin Short. The movie was directed by Charles Shyer and was written by Nancy Meyers and Charles shyer.

The movie was one of the biggest hits of 1990’s and had a gross collection of $89,325,780 and was released  in the vacations on 20th dec 1991.The movie is all about the father, who is shocked by the decision of his daughter who announces to marry a person who is known to her for last 3months, and then how does the wedding planning goes  and what happens in the end .

George bank thinks his daughter is young  and should not marry and  go away ,but she has grown up and she is 22 now .Annie, the bride announces to marry Bryan and her mother is thrilled by her decision, and her father thinks how his daughter grew from a small girl to a woman.

George thinks how his daughter plans to marry, and is the boy the perfect one, or has some criminal record but his wife Nina makes him understand about the situation. There is a lot of humor with many touching scenes and then Martin Short, the wedding planner comes with lots of hilarious acts .The chemistry between the father and the wedding planner is an adventure watching, and the differences of opinion is very fun watch. The father wants not to spend a lot on his daughters wedding, but she is being married to a rich family and so the wedding should be up to the mark. What happens in the end, and does George understands the overall view? And does Nina succeed in making her husband understand about her daughter’s marriage?

The movie comes alive as the characters are so realistic and the debutant actress Kimberly Williams played her part very well bringing all the emotions and nervousness of a bride .The character of father and mother played by Steve and Diane are portrayed very well, and their pairing is one of the best in Hollywood. The wedding planner Martin Short gives a big smile on the face, as his timings and comedy is great.

The movie is ranked 92nd among the 100 funniest movies by Bravos. The director Charles Shyer is always known for his comedy and his informative scripts, which bring all his movies, reach to the masses. The wedding planner grabs the attention throughout the movie and makes us remember of the scenes till decades.
