Take the leap – literally with a Wedding in the Skies

You’d fallen head over heels for her and it was an exhilarating adventure from then on till you heard her  saying the three words every guy waits anxiously for, ‘Yes, I will’. And when it has been such a great adventure, why not begin your adventure of life on a high note as well.

How about - A Wedding in the Skies; where you exchange your vows falling towards the earth at around 120mph from thousands of feet in the sky.  Skydiving Wedding can be the ultimate thrill for the adventurous at heart. A less visited but nonetheless a popular wedding theme.

There are quite a few ways to execute a skydiving wedding. You can exchange your vows on the ground, hop in the plane and then dive and hold the love of your life as you free-fall. Or you can have the clergyman airborne with you, have him officiate the nuptials and then seal the deal with a kiss you are free-falling. And the most exciting would be when you do your ‘I Do’s’ while you are free-falling and then touchdown in the midst of the congregation of your wedding party. But if you are not able to dive yourself, you can always opt to have the skydivers deliver the rings at your wedding ceremony.

However, skydiving wedding does come with some strings attached. Most people are not familiar with skydiving and hence the experience can be a bit overwhelming. While diving, you will be strapped to the instructor (tandem skydiving) the whole time if you are not experienced. Also you have just the short window of free-fall to execute all the important things. So you should consider some skydiving lessons before making ‘the plunge’.

You will also need to be medically fit for skydiving. People with heart, lung or neurological disorders, diabetes or hypertension are not allowed to skydive. It is also better to check with your instructor about your wedding dresses and the date as well. Some skydiving institutes need you to register as much as six months in advance. Most importantly, there is a chance that weather can play foul and disrupt your wedding day and/or time.

Once all the hassles are tackled and you are cleared for takeoff, there is hardly anything that can stop you from taking the plunge of your life. You will find many skydiving facilities around the world which will cater to your needs and also help you plan accordingly. The idea of jumping from a perfectly good plane may sound weird and falling down instead of walking down the aisle may seem outlandish, but the momentary fear and then the adrenaline rush coupled with the silent moments with the love of your life, high in the sky make skydiving wedding a great choice. So go ahead, take the leap – of faith!
